如果在静谧的夜，仰望漫天的星，是否偶然还会记起，那些孩童时代天真烂漫的幻想？是想象自己手持一根可以任意伸缩的金箍棒，还是捧着一盏能够开天辟地、法力无边的宝莲灯。是化身为小美人鱼，潜入瑰丽的海底世界，同各色各样的海洋生物一起尽情的嬉戏；还是装扮成替父从军的花木兰，佩戴宝剑，骑着骏马奔驰在疆场上。是搭乘着轻快的滑翔机，向着灯火闪烁的地平线飞翔，找寻那座神秘的天空之城；或是坐上奇妙的龙猫巴士，在澄净的月色下，翻越山丘，穿过辽远的田野和村庄。
一个个纯洁而美好的梦想，来自于一幕幕五彩斑斓的动画电影，点缀着人生最初的悠远记忆，传递真挚的爱与勇气。而那些伴随着温暖而绚烂的动画影像出现的，或是洋溢着清新明朗的快乐，或是流露着回肠荡气的深情的主题音乐，则在童年的回忆中，替我们开启梦境的门扉，将我们引入奇幻世界中尽情嬉戏。跟随典雅古朴的《九色鹿》，穿行在敦煌壁画的瑰丽长卷中，见证惩恶扬善的民间传奇。在莽莽苍苍的林海中，邂逅一位沉静唯美的《幽灵公主》，找寻与天地共生的神秘精灵。在被仙女的魔咒笼罩的奇幻城堡中，拜访终成眷属的《美女与野兽》，领略经久不衰的浪漫童话故事。
为了唤醒那些深藏于心底的彩色梦境，重温那些在荏苒时光中隽永难忘的奇幻故事和童话传说，此次我们选择了世界上古老的乐器。长笛，作为主奏乐器，演绎来自中、美、日三国的经典动画主题音乐。优美抒情的长笛，在钢琴、大提琴、圆号、吉他等多种乐器伴奏下，如同仙女的魔杖一般，点亮深藏于心底的童年回忆。悠扬宛转的乐声，仿佛令人回到那些与纯真幻想相伴的美好岁月中，仿佛还相信自己胸怀勇气，可以乘风破浪，前往无止尽的远方。
在本张专辑中担任长笛独奏的，是旅美演奏家，被誉为“长笛公主”的刘雨婷。出生于北京，求学于美国的她，已获印第安那大学Jacobs音乐学院硕士学位，目前在中国、欧洲和北美都举办过多次音乐会，并发行了两张个人专辑。中美文化交融的个人成长历程，使她希望通过演绎这些亲切如友的中外动画经典配乐，回望那些难忘难舍的纯挚岁月。在洛杉矶的录制现场，手持铂金长笛的她，如同一位从迪士尼动画电影中走出的公主，施展着温暖绚烂的音乐魔法，令怀旧的旋律重焕新彩。美国作曲家Josh Nelson，，近年来应制作人叶云川之邀，参与了瑞鸣音乐出品的《星空》、《时光倒流七十年》等专辑的创作。此次制作人邀请他以及跨界乐团，将这些风格多变的经典乐曲，演绎得诗意盎然，令人浮想联翩。
在璀璨的夜空下，再次聆听那承载着美好回忆的动人乐声，仿佛重逢一位相伴度过幼年时光的挚友，共同前往奇妙的魔幻世界，找寻在人生路途中遗落的童心。对划过天幕的流星，许下赤诚的心愿，重拾勇气与梦想，再次向着远方，演绎属于自己的传奇故事。

When you look up at the stars, do you still sometimes remember those innocent dreams of childhood? Imagine holding a golden hoop that can grow or shrink to any size, or a magic lamp that can grant your wishes? Did you dream of what it would be like to be transformed into a little mermaid, diving into the magnificent underwater kingdom, or dressing up as a brave young warrior, eager to show filial love for their family, wearing their father’s sword and galloping off to the frontier on a beautiful battle horse! Did you dream of flying away towards the glittering horizon and journey to a mysterious sky city; or take a ride the happy-spooky moonlit ride on the Totoro bus over the hills and across the fields?
Perhaps more than any other medium, the colorful world of animation has inspired countless dreams of beauty, heroism, and has embedded itself in unforgettable memories. As gorgeous or silly as those animated stories may be, they were brought to life through music. In fact, music is more than an equal partner with the images on the screen, they brought the fantasy to life with some of the most memorable melodies ever written. As we stroll down memory lane, we revisit the elegant and simple folk morality tale of “The Nine-Colored Deer,” a Chinese animation inspired by the magnificent scrolls of Dunhuang frescoes . A little further on, in a mysterious forest, we meet the fierce and beautiful “Princess Mononoke,” torn between the gods of nature and the progress of man. Of course, no animated journey would be complete without an enchanted castle or two, and so we visit one of our favorite fairy tales, “Beauty and the Beast”. Each of the films and their songs have become to us as familiar as family members that we return to time after time to be swept up in these fairy tale romances.
To bring these colorful dreams of “long, long ago” and “far, far away” back to life we have chosen the oldest known musical instrument in the world, the flute, as the main instrument. Every culture has a drum and every nation has a flute, and for new journeys, we will explore classic anime-themed music from China, the United States, and Japan. The beautiful, bright sound of the flute, accompanied by an intimate ensemble of piano, cello, French horn and guitar, is like a magic wand, lighting the way through our childhood memories. The sound of this melodic music unfailingly spirits people back to those innocent, carefree times. It seems that all it takes is to close your eyes, listen, and make a wish upon a star…
Yuting Liu, known as the “Princess of the Flute,” is our flute soloist. She was born in Beijing, China and studied in the United States. She has a master's degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. She performs widely in China, Europe and North America, and has released two solo albums. Yuting blends Chinese and American culture as well as the nostalgia of her childhood. She has an inspired and personal interpretation of these beloved Chinese and foreign animation classic soundtracks. While recording this album in Los Angeles, she wielded her golden flute like a princess straight out of an animated Disney movie. LA-based composer Josh Nelson, who also collaborated with producer Ye Yunchuan on the Rhymoi Music albums “Starry Sky” and “Somewhere in Time,” also wrote the very special arrangements for Ms. Liu. Together, this multi-culti ensemble of world-class artists brings each song to life in a poetic and imaginative way.
While listening to these beautiful songs under the starry night sky, each carries so many memories, it is almost as if we are reunited with long lost childhood friends. As we close our eyes, and wish upon that falling star, it is this music that reminds us of our long-forgotten dreams and invites us to once again live our own legendary story!

As the song begins, the flute imitates the shakuhachi, improvising on melancholy, wide-ranging melody. The cello enters and takes up the mood; slowly the French Horn enters and finally the clear sound of the guitar, each offering meditations on Hisashi’s lonely tune.
The animated film “Princess Mononoke” produced by the Japanese studio Ghibli tells of a wondrous encounter and struggle between a young prince,the gods of a forest, and the humans who consume their resources. It is here that the young prince encounters a girl raised by the spirits of the mountain to be its protector, Princess Mononoke. All throughout, the music has a rich oriental, classical style that beautifully frames the atmosphere of ancient legends.

Mingli's graceful flute is the perfect Belle, the faithful daughter who went to the mysterious castle alone to save her father. Through her strength and kindness, she finally breaks the curse and finds her love with the prince. One of the most famous themes of all the Disney films, Academy Award winning composer Alan Menken enchants us with his classic, romantic classic tune; its beautiful sentiments, as fresh as spring time. The sun rises and the sun sets, but this immortal fairy tale and its winsomes melody will be played forever.

The clear tone of the piano, the joyful strumming of the guitar, together with the colorful sounds and bouncy rhythms of the marimba and other percussion instruments set a bustling and happy scene on the wide African savannah. The lively and fluent flute pipes a playful tune, bringing to mind little Simba, running in the golden sunshine, playing with his animal friends, dreaming of a bright and happy future. Oscar winning and eleven time nominee Hans Zimmer, wrote this cheerful tune in 1994, perfectly capturing the youthful innocence and self-confidence of the lion cub destined to be a King!

The 1999 Chinese animated film “Lotus Lantern” was based on a famous folktale about the many adventures and journeys of a boy named Chenxiang. Chenxiang endured all manner of hardships and finally saved his mother, a goddess. The film is scored with sincere and moving music to accompany the many hardships our young hero must endure. The story of the Lotus Lantern is well-known to Chinese audiences and there have been numerous screen adaptations for almost a century.
In our arrangement, the guitar sets the mood, recalling the tenderness of a mother’s love. The lyrical and beautiful main melody played by the flute is still so exciting. There is tenderness and nobility to this music that will surely touch your heart!
05.风之甬道 The Path of Wind （来自《龙猫》/From“Totoro”） CN-F12-20-00312

This timeless tune was created by the master of Japanese animation soundtracks, Joe Hisaishi. It’s impossible to even estimate how many people heard this song in their youth. With its upbeat, bouncy melody, and a hint of melancholy, we take our ride on the Totoro bus once again, in the cool of a summer night, racing through tranquil fields and villages. As our ride comes to an end, the flute fades to barely a whisper with the cello and a rippling arpeggio on the piano.

The piano sets the mood for this beloved waltz, its crystalline tone, sparkles like the stars in the night sky. The flute enters bright and melodically spins a song of hope and longing, while the cello, guitar and French horn provide a warm, jazzy accompaniment.
For more than 80 years, the timeless melody, which has become a classic in its own right, comes from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.”It is the first full-length cel-animated feature film and the earliest Disney animated feature film. It’s the famous story from the Brothers Grimm about a beautiful princess, who followedd an escape from her wicked stepmother and led a new life with seven dwarves. In the film, Snow White sings to the dwarves recalling her first meeting with the prince. A reprise of her song is sung by a choir at the very end of the film, as Snow White and the Prince ride off into the sunset.

This song comes from the Japanese animated movie released by Studio Ghibli in 2010. The impressionistic arrangement features the warm sound of the cello, French horn, guitar and marimba. The ensemble carries a sentimental mood. The flute enters softly, presenting the song in its purest form. The film tells the story of a family of four-inch-tall people who live secretly in another family's residence, borrowing simple items to make their home. But one day, everything changes when Arrietty, the daughter of the hidden family, is seen by the human boy who comes to live in the home with his family. A secret friendship blossoms, but their relationship could drive Arrietty's family from their home and straight into danger. Our arrangement perfectly captures the fragility of this impossible friendship.

Beginning with the classic jijfeng accelerating rhythm, familiar to Peking Opera, a perky flute tune quickly establishes the light-hearted mood and its Chinese setting. The 1976 short film “Three Monks”was adapted from a famous folk proverb that emphasized the importance of cooperating with one another. It was one of the first Chinese animations made after the Cultural Revolution and became a hit both at home and internationally as well.

The inspiration for the 1981 animated short film “The Nine-Colored Deer” was the depiction of the “Deer King Bensheng” in the famous Dunhuang frescoes. Our arrangement begins with the flute in its lowest register, accompanied by only the guitar and the cello creating an ancient, exotic sound. As the music unfolds, there is a curious disorienting effect by the rhythms and melodies, almost as if we are seeing these ancient images from many perspectives all at once. A brief percussive episode returns us to the serenity of the opening melody.
8.3.大闹天宫 Uproar in Heaven （来自《大闹天宫》/From “The Monkey King”） CN-F12-20-00320

This song was created in the 1960s by Wu Yingju, a well-known composer in the Chinese fine arts and film industry. “Uproar in Heaven” was a landmark work in the history of Chinese animation, a film known and loved by generations of Chinese. The original soundtrack was written in the style of traditional Chinese opera, with the gongs and drums sounding out. In our arrangement, the flute plays with a bright and wide tone, expressing the magnificence of the Lingxiao Baodian, the temple where the Emperor of Heaven lives. A burst of melodic music, depicts the mythical hero Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, lightening the gentle, melancholy mood of the music.

The lights at the end of the horizon flashed in the cloudy night. Ride upon an airship through the cool mist and through the clouds to find the fantasy island floating in the center of the tempest. This song was originally the theme song of the animated film “Castle in the Sky” released in 1986 by Studio Ghibli in Japan. It is popular all over the world because of the touching and beautiful melody. Yuting’s bright and melodic flute, the warm and mellow French horn, and piano all intertwine in mellow and passionate music, which will transport you to your own youth dreams.

In 1989, Disney adapted the poignant fairy tale “The Little Mermaid” created by the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen into the now famous animated feature film “The Little Mermaid”. The film became an international hit and the songs by Alan Menken were popular around the world with children and adults. For this song, the little mermaid’s friend and advisor, a rather comical crab who tries to persuade her to forget about the human world. He wants her to enjoy all the wonderful, care-free things there are under the sea, all to an infectious reggae beat.

The Disney animated film “Mulan”, released in 1998, was based on the famous Chinese tale of the brave young girl who fought in her father’s place. Originally a tale of filial piety, Disney transformed it into a magnificent romantic legend of ancient China. The warm sound of the cello plays a gentle and melancholy prelude. Later, the flute enters with a bright and soft tone, telling of the girl's desire for independence and freedom. At the music’s climax, the flute, accompanied by the rippling sounds of the piano, spirals up like a bird finally free from all restraints, to spread its wings and soar into an endless sky of dreams.
演奏家艺术简介：
刘雨婷 于美国印第安那大学Jacobs音乐学院及加州州立大学音乐学院获得双硕士学位。作为一名非常活跃的音乐家，刘雨婷曾在美国，中国，澳大利亚，法国，意大利，德国，奥地利等地多次举行独奏，重奏，室内乐以及协奏曲音乐会。其中包括纽约卡内基音乐厅，法国Chateau of Chantilly, Chartres Cathedral, Church of La Madeleine，奥地利 Esterházy Palace, Eisenstadt 等。

About the Artists:
Yuting Liu is an active musician who is performing extensively as a recitalist and chamber musician, giving concerts in many countries including the United States, Canada, Germany, Austria, France, Australia, and China.
Born in Beijing, China. Yuting commenced flute studies at the age of 8. Her teachers included Xiaohua Cheng, the co-principal flutist of the China Philharmonic Orchestra and Nikola Todor Atanasov, principal flautist with the Beijing Symphony Orchestra. Her awards in China included winning the Beijing Art Festival solo competitions.
After moving to the United States, she had her Bachelor degree at Depauw University where she studied with Anne Reynolds, winning the Scholarship Music Performance President Award for Excellence and the DePauw University Concerto Competition. Also, Yuting holds two master’s degrees. She completed her first master’s degree at Indiana University, studying with Thomas Robertello, where she won the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Artistic Excellence Award. She received the second master’s degree with famous French flutist Jean Ferrandis at California State University, Fullerton, and worked as the teaching assistant in CSUF. Yuting also was a finalist in the Flute Guild Young Artist Competition in San Diego.
Most recently, she is the principal flutist in Rio Hondo Symphony Orchestra, California. Yuting is also the cooperative artist of Revival Arts and Media Ltd. Vancouver Canada and Global Outstanding Chinese Artists Association in San Francisco, California.
Yuting’s new album, Flute Sonatas will be released in 2020, and it includes the famous works of two living composers, Lowell Liebermann and Yuko Uebayashi. The world film music album, 《Somewhere in Time》 with Rhymoi Music Record Company was released in April 2019.

Josh Nelson, born and raised in Southern California, maintains an active and creative schedule as a pianist, composer, arranger, educator, and recording artist.
Josh has recorded for countless albums, films, and TV, but also makes time for his own projects: Anticipation (2004), Let it Go (2007), I Hear a Rhapsody (2009), Discoveries (2011), Exploring Mars (2015), The Sky Remains (2017) and The Discovery Project Live in Japan (2020). In 2011, Josh introduced The Discovery Project, a pairing of classic science fiction ephemera with new compositions for a brass and wind ensemble, featuring a live ongoing video projection and art installation component. In 2006, Josh was one of only twelve semi-finalists in the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition. Josh toured the world with legendary vocalist Natalie Cole for from 2008-2015. He continues to perform with artists Alicia Olatuja, Eddie Daniels, Richard Galliano, Tom Scott, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Lorca Hart, Anton Schwartz, and Christian Howes.

在本张专辑中担任长笛独奏的，是旅美演奏家，被誉为“长笛公主”的刘雨婷。出生于北京，求学于美国的她，已获印第安那大学Jacobs音乐学院硕士学位，目前在中国、欧洲和北美都举办过多次音乐会，并发行了两张个人专辑。中美文化交融的个人成长历程，使她希望通过演绎这些亲切如友的中外动画经典配乐，回望那些难忘难舍的纯挚岁月。在洛杉矶的录制现场，手持铂金长笛的她，如同一位从迪士尼动画电影中走出的公主，施展着温暖绚烂的音乐魔法，令怀旧的旋律重焕新彩。美国作曲家Josh Nelson，，近年来应制作人叶云川之邀，参与了瑞鸣音乐出品的《星空》、《时光倒流七十年》等专辑的创作。此次制作人邀请他以及跨界乐团，将这些风格多变的经典乐曲，演绎得诗意盎然，令人浮想联翩。

When you look up at the stars, do you still sometimes remember those innocent dreams of childhood? Imagine holding a golden hoop that can grow or shrink to any size, or a magic lamp that can grant your wishes? Did you dream of what it would be like to be transformed into a little mermaid, diving into the magnificent underwater kingdom, or dressing up as a brave young warrior, eager to show filial love for their family, wearing their father’s sword and galloping off to the frontier on a beautiful battle horse! Did you dream of flying away towards the glittering horizon and journey to a mysterious sky city; or take a ride the happy-spooky moonlit ride on the Totoro bus over the hills and across the fields?
Perhaps more than any other medium, the colorful world of animation has inspired countless dreams of beauty, heroism, and has embedded itself in unforgettable memories. As gorgeous or silly as those animated stories may be, they were brought to life through music. In fact, music is more than an equal partner with the images on the screen, they brought the fantasy to life with some of the most memorable melodies ever written. As we stroll down memory lane, we revisit the elegant and simple folk morality tale of “The Nine-Colored Deer,” a Chinese animation inspired by the magnificent scrolls of Dunhuang frescoes . A little further on, in a mysterious forest, we meet the fierce and beautiful “Princess Mononoke,” torn between the gods of nature and the progress of man. Of course, no animated journey would be complete without an enchanted castle or two, and so we visit one of our favorite fairy tales, “Beauty and the Beast”. Each of the films and their songs have become to us as familiar as family members that we return to time after time to be swept up in these fairy tale romances.
To bring these colorful dreams of “long, long ago” and “far, far away” back to life we have chosen the oldest known musical instrument in the world, the flute, as the main instrument. Every culture has a drum and every nation has a flute, and for new journeys, we will explore classic anime-themed music from China, the United States, and Japan. The beautiful, bright sound of the flute, accompanied by an intimate ensemble of piano, cello, French horn and guitar, is like a magic wand, lighting the way through our childhood memories. The sound of this melodic music unfailingly spirits people back to those innocent, carefree times. It seems that all it takes is to close your eyes, listen, and make a wish upon a star…
Yuting Liu, known as the “Princess of the Flute,” is our flute soloist. She was born in Beijing, China and studied in the United States. She has a master's degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. She performs widely in China, Europe and North America, and has released two solo albums. Yuting blends Chinese and American culture as well as the nostalgia of her childhood. She has an inspired and personal interpretation of these beloved Chinese and foreign animation classic soundtracks. While recording this album in Los Angeles, she wielded her golden flute like a princess straight out of an animated Disney movie. LA-based composer Josh Nelson, who also collaborated with producer Ye Yunchuan on the Rhymoi Music albums “Starry Sky” and “Somewhere in Time,” also wrote the very special arrangements for Ms. Liu. Together, this multi-culti ensemble of world-class artists brings each song to life in a poetic and imaginative way.
While listening to these beautiful songs under the starry night sky, each carries so many memories, it is almost as if we are reunited with long lost childhood friends. As we close our eyes, and wish upon that falling star, it is this music that reminds us of our long-forgotten dreams and invites us to once again live our own legendary story!

As the song begins, the flute imitates the shakuhachi, improvising on melancholy, wide-ranging melody. The cello enters and takes up the mood; slowly the French Horn enters and finally the clear sound of the guitar, each offering meditations on Hisashi’s lonely tune.
The animated film “Princess Mononoke” produced by the Japanese studio Ghibli tells of a wondrous encounter and struggle between a young prince,the gods of a forest, and the humans who consume their resources. It is here that the young prince encounters a girl raised by the spirits of the mountain to be its protector, Princess Mononoke. All throughout, the music has a rich oriental, classical style that beautifully frames the atmosphere of ancient legends.

Mingli's graceful flute is the perfect Belle, the faithful daughter who went to the mysterious castle alone to save her father. Through her strength and kindness, she finally breaks the curse and finds her love with the prince. One of the most famous themes of all the Disney films, Academy Award winning composer Alan Menken enchants us with his classic, romantic classic tune; its beautiful sentiments, as fresh as spring time. The sun rises and the sun sets, but this immortal fairy tale and its winsomes melody will be played forever.

The clear tone of the piano, the joyful strumming of the guitar, together with the colorful sounds and bouncy rhythms of the marimba and other percussion instruments set a bustling and happy scene on the wide African savannah. The lively and fluent flute pipes a playful tune, bringing to mind little Simba, running in the golden sunshine, playing with his animal friends, dreaming of a bright and happy future. Oscar winning and eleven time nominee Hans Zimmer, wrote this cheerful tune in 1994, perfectly capturing the youthful innocence and self-confidence of the lion cub destined to be a King!

The 1999 Chinese animated film “Lotus Lantern” was based on a famous folktale about the many adventures and journeys of a boy named Chenxiang. Chenxiang endured all manner of hardships and finally saved his mother, a goddess. The film is scored with sincere and moving music to accompany the many hardships our young hero must endure. The story of the Lotus Lantern is well-known to Chinese audiences and there have been numerous screen adaptations for almost a century.
In our arrangement, the guitar sets the mood, recalling the tenderness of a mother’s love. The lyrical and beautiful main melody played by the flute is still so exciting. There is tenderness and nobility to this music that will surely touch your heart!

This timeless tune was created by the master of Japanese animation soundtracks, Joe Hisaishi. It’s impossible to even estimate how many people heard this song in their youth. With its upbeat, bouncy melody, and a hint of melancholy, we take our ride on the Totoro bus once again, in the cool of a summer night, racing through tranquil fields and villages. As our ride comes to an end, the flute fades to barely a whisper with the cello and a rippling arpeggio on the piano.

The piano sets the mood for this beloved waltz, its crystalline tone, sparkles like the stars in the night sky. The flute enters bright and melodically spins a song of hope and longing, while the cello, guitar and French horn provide a warm, jazzy accompaniment.
For more than 80 years, the timeless melody, which has become a classic in its own right, comes from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.”It is the first full-length cel-animated feature film and the earliest Disney animated feature film. It’s the famous story from the Brothers Grimm about a beautiful princess, who followedd an escape from her wicked stepmother and led a new life with seven dwarves. In the film, Snow White sings to the dwarves recalling her first meeting with the prince. A reprise of her song is sung by a choir at the very end of the film, as Snow White and the Prince ride off into the sunset.

This song comes from the Japanese animated movie released by Studio Ghibli in 2010. The impressionistic arrangement features the warm sound of the cello, French horn, guitar and marimba. The ensemble carries a sentimental mood. The flute enters softly, presenting the song in its purest form. The film tells the story of a family of four-inch-tall people who live secretly in another family's residence, borrowing simple items to make their home. But one day, everything changes when Arrietty, the daughter of the hidden family, is seen by the human boy who comes to live in the home with his family. A secret friendship blossoms, but their relationship could drive Arrietty's family from their home and straight into danger. Our arrangement perfectly captures the fragility of this impossible friendship.

Beginning with the classic jijfeng accelerating rhythm, familiar to Peking Opera, a perky flute tune quickly establishes the light-hearted mood and its Chinese setting. The 1976 short film “Three Monks”was adapted from a famous folk proverb that emphasized the importance of cooperating with one another. It was one of the first Chinese animations made after the Cultural Revolution and became a hit both at home and internationally as well.

8.2. The Nine-Colored Deer Theme Song (From “The Nine-Colored Deer”)

The inspiration for the 1981 animated short film “The Nine-Colored Deer” was the depiction of the “Deer King Bensheng” in the famous Dunhuang frescoes. Our arrangement begins with the flute in its lowest register, accompanied by only the guitar and the cello creating an ancient, exotic sound. As the music unfolds, there is a curious disorienting effect by the rhythms and melodies, almost as if we are seeing these ancient images from many perspectives all at once. A brief percussive episode returns us to the serenity of the opening melody.
8.3.大闹天宫 Uproar in Heaven （来自《大闹天宫》/From “The Monkey King”） CN-F12-20-00320

此曲由中国美术电影界的著名作曲家吴应炬创作于1960年代，是中国动画史上的不朽之作《大闹天宫》的主题配乐，承载着数代国人的童年回忆。锣鼓击响，长笛以明亮宽广的音色领奏，表现着天帝所居住的凌霄宝殿的瑰丽辉煌。随后钢琴键音激情奔驰，宽厚深沉的大提琴紧随其后。一阵万籁齐鸣的乐声，以极具戏剧性的音乐色彩，描绘出深受国人喜爱的神话英雄孙悟空，机智乐观而勇敢地反抗天兵天将的热烈场面。
8.3. Uproar in Heaven (From “The Monkey King”)
Original song: Wu Yingju
This song was created in the 1960s by Wu Yingju, a well-known composer in the Chinese fine arts and film industry. “Uproar in Heaven” was a landmark work in the history of Chinese animation, a film known and loved by generations of Chinese. The original soundtrack was written in the style of traditional Chinese opera, with the gongs and drums sounding out. In our arrangement, the flute plays with a bright and wide tone, expressing the magnificence of the Lingxiao Baodian, the temple where the Emperor of Heaven lives. A burst of melodic music, depicts the mythical hero Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, lightening the gentle, melancholy mood of the music.

The lights at the end of the horizon flashed in the cloudy night. Ride upon an airship through the cool mist and through the clouds to find the fantasy island floating in the center of the tempest. This song was originally the theme song of the animated film “Castle in the Sky” released in 1986 by Studio Ghibli in Japan. It is popular all over the world because of the touching and beautiful melody. Yuting’s bright and melodic flute, the warm and mellow French horn, and piano all intertwine in mellow and passionate music, which will transport you to your own youth dreams.

In 1989, Disney adapted the poignant fairy tale “The Little Mermaid” created by the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen into the now famous animated feature film “The Little Mermaid”. The film became an international hit and the songs by Alan Menken were popular around the world with children and adults. For this song, the little mermaid’s friend and advisor, a rather comical crab who tries to persuade her to forget about the human world. He wants her to enjoy all the wonderful, care-free things there are under the sea, all to an infectious reggae beat.

11. Reflection (From “Mulan”)

The Disney animated film “Mulan”, released in 1998, was based on the famous Chinese tale of the brave young girl who fought in her father’s place. Originally a tale of filial piety, Disney transformed it into a magnificent romantic legend of ancient China. The warm sound of the cello plays a gentle and melancholy prelude. Later, the flute enters with a bright and soft tone, telling of the girl's desire for independence and freedom. At the music’s climax, the flute, accompanied by the rippling sounds of the piano, spirals up like a bird finally free from all restraints, to spread its wings and soar into an endless sky of dreams.

刘雨婷 于美国印第安那大学Jacobs音乐学院及加州州立大学音乐学院获得双硕士学位。作为一名非常活跃的音乐家，刘雨婷曾在美国，中国，澳大利亚，法国，意大利，德国，奥地利等地多次举行独奏，重奏，室内乐以及协奏曲音乐会。其中包括纽约卡内基音乐厅，法国Chateau of Chantilly, Chartres Cathedral, Church of La Madeleine，奥地利 Esterházy Palace, Eisenstadt 等。
雨婷曾获DePauw大学音乐杰出奖全额奖学金，印第安那大学艺术杰出奖全额奖学金，加州州立大学艺术杰出奖全额奖学金。刘雨婷还曾在中国及美国多种艺术比赛中获奖，其中包括DePauw 独奏比赛，San Diego 长笛协会青年艺术家大赛等。刘雨婷曾任Rio Hondo Symphony Orchestra 首席长笛，Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra首席长笛演奏家， 北塔科挞大学教授现代乐团团员，以及加州州立大学长笛教学助教。

About the Artists:
Yuting Liu is an active musician who is performing extensively as a recitalist and chamber musician, giving concerts in many countries including the United States, Canada, Germany, Austria, France, Australia, and China.
Born in Beijing, China. Yuting commenced flute studies at the age of 8. Her teachers included Xiaohua Cheng, the co-principal flutist of the China Philharmonic Orchestra and Nikola Todor Atanasov, principal flautist with the Beijing Symphony Orchestra. Her awards in China included winning the Beijing Art Festival solo competitions.
After moving to the United States, she had her Bachelor degree at Depauw University where she studied with Anne Reynolds, winning the Scholarship Music Performance President Award for Excellence and the DePauw University Concerto Competition. Also, Yuting holds two master’s degrees. She completed her first master’s degree at Indiana University, studying with Thomas Robertello, where she won the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Artistic Excellence Award. She received the second master’s degree with famous French flutist Jean Ferrandis at California State University, Fullerton, and worked as the teaching assistant in CSUF. Yuting also was a finalist in the Flute Guild Young Artist Competition in San Diego.
Most recently, she is the principal flutist in Rio Hondo Symphony Orchestra, California. Yuting is also the cooperative artist of Revival Arts and Media Ltd. Vancouver Canada and Global Outstanding Chinese Artists Association in San Francisco, California.
Yuting’s new album, Flute Sonatas will be released in 2020, and it includes the famous works of two living composers, Lowell Liebermann and Yuko Uebayashi. The world film music album, 《Somewhere in Time》 with Rhymoi Music Record Company was released in April 2019.

Josh Nelson, born and raised in Southern California, maintains an active and creative schedule as a pianist, composer, arranger, educator, and recording artist.
Josh has recorded for countless albums, films, and TV, but also makes time for his own projects: Anticipation (2004), Let it Go (2007), I Hear a Rhapsody (2009), Discoveries (2011), Exploring Mars (2015), The Sky Remains (2017) and The Discovery Project Live in Japan (2020). In 2011, Josh introduced The Discovery Project, a pairing of classic science fiction ephemera with new compositions for a brass and wind ensemble, featuring a live ongoing video projection and art installation component. In 2006, Josh was one of only twelve semi-finalists in the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition. Josh toured the world with legendary vocalist Natalie Cole for from 2008-2015. He continues to perform with artists Alicia Olatuja, Eddie Daniels, Richard Galliano, Tom Scott, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Lorca Hart, Anton Schwartz, and Christian Howes.
