专辑介绍:

Vanity and Velocity is the debut album from this dirty pop music collective, featuring 7 songs of raw energy, lyrical delirium, jangle, sweat, reckless abandon, naive optimism, and incoherent (yet still bad), poetics. This illegitimate child of music is the offspring of songwriter/guitarist Mark Spence (with 2 solo albums behind him), and multi-instrumentalist Greg Perry, whose bass, drums, keyboards, MOOG, and constant critricisms of the singer turned these songs into the taught musical acts of expression you hear today. The songs are catchy enough to hum, while the haphazard lyrics leave the listener wondering whether these boys are dumb as rocks or perhaps smarter than anyone might think. Most likely they are both, depending on their mood or time of the day. In all, a very fine offhand delivery from a group that cares more about this than they are likely to admit.

Now that's what I call music...
Oh yes go on boys - The Jam, Stiff Little Fingers and Teenage Fanclub what a fine mix without overtly copying. And the lyrics are brilliant. Think I'm gonna have a little dance.....I'm back phew. It's sunny where I live(for once) and this is on full blast and annoying the neighbours. The vocals are damn near perfect, you can just see the spittle flying everywhere. The Guitars are windmill, air guitar inducingly fine. Go on ya bigredfireengine.

You guys rock!
The production of the song was awesome. Did you get this done professionally? The sound is retro, yet totally now. You did a very good job writing this song. The arrangement is great, and your guitar rocks. I like the use of picking and straight chords-very effective and supportive. The mood makes me think of when I'm sitting at work wishing I was doing something else. The verse comes in and that's where I'm thinking about all the things I could be doing, and then the chorus rages and that's where I throw my papers up in the air and storm out of the office. Very cool song. Well done.

Explodes like a Pollock Painting
you asked for vox, guitars and song comments: the noise paste part at the top was well-done, and went into very easily into a more melodic guitar. "Glorious Failure" is a magnificient line. "The Songs of Discontent" is another good line. Great lyrics, which are lacking on about 95% of the songs here. The vocals walk a line between a Rotten-esque snarl and a cracking Replacement's wail. Great solo for the guitar, so many people try to do the sonic-noise-pastiche and just make boring music. It's sorta like when the freshman at art school throws paints badly at the canvas and claims he's Jackson Pollack, then claims your too traditional to get it. This, however, works. This song is going on my stingy play list, for your ability to surf back and forth between the traditional chord structure and discordant parts, and the shere conviction with which all elements of the song are pulled off. This would be a great song to be played on the new 103 in Los Angeles.

More Buzz
Sickboy Atlanta, GA

This band should soon start buzzing harder than Paris Hilton at her 13th birthday party. My boy Yomp of Back Bone Shiver (burr..) turned me on to them. He said in his Mancurian accent "This new band is tops, honest they are" So I listened and they are. Heavy heavy guitar, it sounds like the Strokes went back in time found the Hooters beat them up took they're instruments then had Rick Ocasek produce them. Did I mention how much I loved the quitar? Oh and my new favorite line from a song is "you pissed on my shoes and told me it was rain" from the Sickboy song Pale I'll have more on these guys A.S.A.P. until then listen to them here.
